AR news for Grades 1st – 6th grades
The end of our first trimester with AR is quickly approaching: November 7!
What this means, is that your child should be at 100% of their AR reading goal (set by the computer AND approved by their teacher) with at least 85% correct as an average on their reading quizzes by the end of that end.
Quizzes can only be taken during school hours, at school, Monday through Friday. I have entered all school holidays into the AR software, and so your child’s reading goal has been set
with all holidays taken into consideration. Each teacher has also planned into their daily routine an AR time of 25-35 minutes of reading. This is also entered into the computer, and goals are set with this as well.
That being said, it is our hope that YOU are helping your child achieve this goal by reading with them (or to them) at home when at all possible.
If you have a child in Kinder, they will begin the AR program shortly. Please contact your child’s teacher for more information. You are able to check your child’s progress in AR by logging onto the site: www.hosted 174.renlearn.com/2561633/Homeconnect
You will then be asked to enter your child’s AR username (your child knows it! A paper also went home that was bright green with this information as well) and the AR password: decs.
From this site you are able to see the books that your child has read, the books that they have quizzed on, and their progress towards their goal. You can also enter your email address to
receive a message whenever your child quizzes and it will tell you how they did on their quiz! (Amazing–and a great conversation to have with your child later!)
If you have any questions, please email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note: with their reading in AR, ALL students will earn a ticket to Six Flags in Vallejo that can be used in the summer over vacation (exact dates are listed on the ticket). We have
participated in this program for the past 4 years with great success! Read! Read! Read!
