Red Ribbon Week 2014: “Love Yourself! Be Drug Free!”

October 27th through October 31st, DECS will once again be participating in the nationwide Red Ribbon Week campaign. This year’s theme is: love yourself…be drug free. The campaign serves as a chance for our students to be educated on how to make safe and healthy choices for their futures. While classes will be discussing the importance of this campaign, we also encourage parents to take the opportunity to talk with your children about what it means to be drug free. The school will be highlighting this campaign with the following activities:

  • All students will be receiving a campaign wristband to wear during Red Ribbon Week.
  • Door decorating contest: the Friday before the campaign begins (October 24th) each class will decorate their door with a special drug free message. The winning class (as voted by staff and PTC) will receive a root beer float party provided by PTC! Winners will be announced the morning of October 31st.
  • Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will be invited to participate in a Red Ribbon Week art project. 3rd through 6th grade students will be invited to participate in Red Ribbon Week poetry contest. There will be one winner from each grade level (as voted by staff and PTC) who will receive a special prize! Winners will be announced the morning of October 31st.
  • Spirit Week Dress Up Days:
