Update from Superintendent Lewis

School Closures for the remainder of the school-year

April 2, 2020

Dear River Charter Schools Parents, Guardians, Staff, and Community,

To continue to support the collective efforts of our region and state to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health and safety of students, staff, families, River Charter Schools will close both Delta Elementary Charter School and Lighthouse Charter School for the remainder of the school year. This decision is not made lightly, and has been made in consultation with both Sacramento and Yolo County Office of Education, other local superintendents and Public Health experts.

While distance learning is new for all of us, we are committed to ensuring positive and meaningful learning experiences for the remainder of this school year. By now teachers have reached out to their students and families and have been working together to prepare for the rest of the school year in providing more structure and continue in the learning processes for our students. Chromebooks are being distributed at both school sites as requested by students and parents. If you are in need, please contact your site principal.

I appreciate your understanding during these difficult times.

Please stay healthy and continue to stay at home. The measures we take today will make a difference.

Steve Lewis, Superintendent River Charter Schools
